12Sasayama Castle Daishoin篠山城大書院

Sasayama Castle Town, the spot where the strata of the “Sasayama Formation” can be observed along with historical buildings. The stratum is exposed on the southern stone wall of the Great Shoin of Sasayama Castle, and the inclination of the stratum can be clearly observed.

13Tamba Sasayama Kasuga Shrine丹波篠山春日神社

Built in 1861, Kasuga Shrine in Sasayama, Tamba, has a Noh stage designated as a national important cultural property. Within the shrine grounds, 100 million-year-old strata of the Sasayama Formation are exposed, making it a spot where visitors can feel the mystery of geology.

7Inari Shrine (Makekirai Inari)まけきらい稲荷

It is a famous spot for cherry
blossoms and autumn leaves, and
offers a spectacular view of the
beautiful town of Tamba Sasayama. At the end of the long stone staircase is a series of vermilion torii gates, and the Heizaemon Inari Shrine sits opposite. Also known as “Makekirai Inari,” the shrine is revered as a of worship.

11Tambanamikimichi Central Park並木道中央公園

This site is on the Sasayama Formation, where dinosaur fossils have been found. Facilities from the Yayoi Period and Kofun Period have also been found. Today, visitors can feel the life of an old farming village with terraced rice paddies and houses made of “yayabuki” (a traditional Japanese roof over the rice paddies).
