太古の生きもの館

The “Museum of Ancient Life” is an interactive learning facility where visitors can observe fossils of dinosaurs and mammals discovered from the Sasayama Group geological formation.
Inside the facility, there is a “Citizen Research Lab of Ancient Life,” as well as areas for viewing exposed outcrops of the Sasayama Formation and experiencing hands-on fossil excavation.

Field Museum of Dinosaur Fossils – General Information Board
An information board has been installed to introduce the outdoor exhibits, including the dinosaur fossil excavation sites and related facilities, as well as the main highlights of the Field Museum of Dinosaur Fossils.
By scanning the QR code on the board, visitors can access maps and other useful information to fully enjoy the area.

Outcrop Display of the Sasayama Group
On the southern (left-hand) slope along the path leading to the Museum of Ancient Life, you can closely observe the strata of the Sasayama Group, where traces of rain from about 110 million years ago and the remains of ancient animal burrows still remain.

Exhibition Room
The exhibition room features restored models of dinosaurs and mammals discovered in Tamba-Sasayama City, actual fossils found by local children, and displays explaining the formation of the Sasayama Group geological strata.

太古の生きもの市民研究所

Citizen Research Lab of Ancient Life
At the Citizen Research Lab of Ancient Life, rocks collected from the Sasayama Group are analyzed, and fossil cleaning work is carried out. Visitors can observe the research and cleaning processes through a viewing window from the exhibition room.
